Costume designer Hayashi Mashiro is in charge of Dominik Mysterio’s debut gear at WWE Summerslam 2020 and it seems that he has done his best to make the younger Mysterio’s debut as great as possible.
Throughout the week, Mashiro went on posting teasers of Dominik’s gear on his Instagram status, including captions indicating his part to create the best impression is done, and it is not the debutant’s turn to prove his worth.
Mashiro is a frequent collaborator of Dominik’s father Rey Mysterio, whose wide range of (sometimes comicbook inspired) gear and masks he has been designing for the last few years.
Dominik will face ‘The Monday Night Messiah’ Seth Rollins in his debut match at WWE’s second most prestigious event of the year. He has been trained by the best in the business, including his father Rey Mysterio, Jay Lethal and Lance Storm, and has trained in the WWE Performance Centre.
Dominik’s Tryst With WWE Goes Long Back
In 2005, long before his in-ring attempt, he made his first appearance in WWE at the age of 8, as part of his father Rey Mysterio’s feud with Eddie Guerrero, in which the two rivals fought for custody of him, and Guerrero stated that he was his, in storyline, biological father. Mysterio defeated Guerrero at SummerSlam, ending the storyline. He once again appeared in 2010, this time during the feud between Rey Mysterio and the Straight Edge Society.
From March, in the following months, Dominik started becoming more and more involved in his father’s storylines, becoming physical in some events, including an interference in a match against WWE Champion.
At The Horror Show at Extreme Rules, Mysterio had his eye “removed” in an “Eye for an Eye” match, where the winner could only be declared upon removing an opponent’s eyeball from its socket. Dominik thereafter came for revenge, but coming at Rollins proved unsuccessful, with Dominik having to be saved by his father’s ally, Aleister Black.
Thereafter, he challenged Rollins for a match at Summerslam. Most recently, he was brutalized by Rollins and his disciple Murphy with numerous Kendo Stick shots. Rey Mysterio has announced that he would be at ringside during the match.
