It is noted that AEW now has a plethora of talents and veterans who had been released or part ways with WWE. This has been a controversial debate regarding AEW’s originality in recruiting compared to Vince McMahon’s WWE.

During the WWE Q2 2021 earnings call with investors, Vince was questioned about how he sees AEW as a competition. He was quite clear with his thoughts and clarified that he does not consider AEW as a competition.

He further added that AEW is nowhere close to the level of competition that WCW was. The WWE Chairman also took a dig at AEW for their talents for their majority being ex-WWE stars and poked fun saying that he could offer some more.

Vince McMahon is brimming with confidence with WWE’s product

One of the callers also noted AEW’s recent roster developments and increasing viewership in the 18-49 demographic. He asked Vince if WWE will look to counter AEW’s “rising tide”. It turns out that the WWE boss maintained his stance that WWE is the “horse in front” and is focused on its own product rather than bothering about AEW.

He said: “Well, it certainly is not a situation where ‘rising tides’ because that was when Ted Turner was coming after us with all of Time Warner’s assets as well. That was a different situation. AEW is where they are. I don’t really know what their plans are, all I know is what our plans are.”

Tony Khan has not responded yet regarding the cheeky jabs that Vince has taken on him and his promotion. We will see if he considers responding to Vince.
