Alongside from his gruesome leg fracture, Conor McGregor has been the focal point of mixed opinions from the mixed martial arts fraternity for the jeers passed at his rival Dustin Poirier’s wife Jolie, and it has not sat well with an old foe- Ali Abdelaziz.

The tussle between McGregor and Abdelaziz go way back to 2018, when the latter, who was manager of Khabib Nurmagomedov at that time, got involved in several verbal altercations with ‘The Notorious’ during the heated buildup to UFC 229.

At the first pre fight press conference before UFC 229, McGregor had called Abdelaziz a “terrorist snitch” and even years after that, the two are often tied in a war of words, which has now carried into the dramatic event that was UFC 264.

Before the fight, McGregor had gone back to his trash talking persona against Dustin Poirier, a complete opposite to the friendly gesture the two were sharing prior to UFC 257 earlier this year, which was the second encounter between the two.

“How are you going to threaten to kill Dustin Poirier’s wife?” Abdelaziz calls out McGregor

From calling Dustin the ‘wife’ of Jolie before the fight, Conor even said that Mrs Poirier was in his Instagram DMs as he was sitting inside the Octagon with a broken leg with Joe Rogan holding the mic.

“Your wife is in my DMs. Hey baby, hit me back up, I’ll chat with you later on,” the Irishman had hurled at the Poirier couple, with Jolie responding by flipping off the former UFC double champion.

The aggression went up a notch after a cageside camera revealed McGregor threatening to kill Dustin and Jolie, by saying, “in your sleep you’re getting it, in your sleep you’re dead, you and your Mrs, it ain’t over.”

All these behaviour has earned ‘The Notorious’ some reprimand from all around and knowing Abdelaziz, who is always ready to take a jab at McGregor, did not shy away from calling him out on his behaviour, especially the threat towards Jolie Poirier.

“He’s his own manager; he’s his own trainer; he’s the head coach; he’s everything,” Abdelaziz said during a recent interview with MMA Junkie, “when you have a whole bunch of ‘yes’ people around you, he’s not evolving his game. At the end of the day, good always defeats evil. He’s an evil human being. He can say whatever he wants. Of course, I don’t like the guy. But if he does something good, I’ll give him credit. How are you going to threaten to kill Dustin Poirier’s wife?”

Moreover, the Egyptian, who has also managed other UFC icons like Justin Gaethje, Kamaru Usman and Henry Cejudo, said he would fine McGregor a million dollars if he was the president of the company.

“If I was Dana White, I would fine this guy $1 million. Dana should have guidelines. I know Dana said, ‘We say mean things to each other.’ Can you imagine if somebody (said this) about Dana’s wife? I know Dana don’t give a sh*t, but in reality, (McGregor) is just completely wrong because this footage is for life. It’s for life. In reality, man, him and his entire people, they are just bad people, man. All of them. They’re delusional,” Abdelaziz added.
