Its pretty evident by now that Conor McGregor did not wish how his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 concluded.
The former UFC double champion, who was stoutly determined to avenge his loss to Poirier back in January this year at UFC 257, took up his renowned trash talking persona during the build up to the UFC 264 clash.
From calling Poirier a “b****” and “silly little hillbilly” to saying his wife Jolie Poirier was his husband, ‘Mystic Mac’ even predicted that his opponent would be dead inside the Octagon and even saying that he would leave the fight on a stretcher.
Unfortunately, it was McGregor himself who had to be escorted on a stretcher after fracturing his leg in the first round, awarding ‘The Diamond’ a TKO win by doctor’s stoppage.
In your sleep you’re dead: McGregor threatened Poirier and wife after UFC 264 clash
The stoppage was not palatable for Conor, as while he was sitting inside the cage with his broken leg, the Irishman threw some heated words at the Poirier couple, as a new camera angle has revealed ‘The Notorioyus’ threatening to kill Dustin and Jolie in their sleep.
“In your sleep you’re getting it, in your sleep you’re dead, you and your Mrs, it ain’t over”, an agitated McGregor was heard saying.
I will break his other leg: Poirier retaliates after the fight
The threats that McGregor hurled at Poirier soon caught the attention of the winner who, during the post fight interview, responded by saying it was a ‘dusgusting’ behaviour from his fellow fighter.
“He was sitting there on the mat with a broken leg, doing like this (pointing gun at head) telling me he was gonna kill me still like what are you doing bro?” Poirier said after the fight.
That’s disgusting man, I will break his other leg” the 32-year-old added.
Poirier vs McGreror 4: A possibility?
While the trilogy fight was announced moments after UFC 257 in January, there is not much confirmation yet on if the two will be seen against one another for the fourth time. McGregor will have to undergo surgery on his leg, while Poirier is speculated to earn a title fight against reigning UFC Lightweight champion Charles Oliviera.
However, president Dana White has not ruled out Poirier vs McGregor 4 from happening.
“It’s brutal. It’s not the way you want to see fights end,” White touched on the UFC 264 main event, “Dustin Poirier will fight for the title, and when Conor is healed and ready to go, you do the rematch, I guess. I don’t know.”
