Vince McMahon recently announced his retirement from WWE. It was revealed that Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan will serve as Co-CEOs of WWE, while Triple H is EVP of Talent Relations and Head of Creative. This comes amid the scandal that Vince has been involved in. He has been accused of misconduct with the female stars of the company. The latest Wall Street Journal story noted Vince McMahon paid $12 million in hush money to four women in the past 16 years to suppress allegations of sexual misconduct and infidelity.
Vince McMahon was involved in several relationship angles with female stars
Vince Russo recently shared his honest thoughts on Vince McMahon booking himself in relationship angles with female stars back in the day. On Sportskeeda Wrestling’s latest edition of Legion of RAW, Russo briefly discussed WWE’s Diva Search. He noted that if he was the head booker of three different brands, he wouldn’t dare to book himself in such an angle.
Furthermore, Russo claimed that the angles were quite “creepy” and that the women involved were put in a position where they couldn’t turn down the ideas that McMahon pitched. He said:
“If a Wall Street Journal or another publication or news source takes that spin on it like that was the whole reason why they did a Diva Search, and some of these started coming forward… You’ve got a monumental mess on your hands at that time. … I was the head booker for three companies, I could’ve written myself in very similar situations, I would’ve never dreamed of that.
He continued, “Number one, to be honest with you, bro, it would’ve been as creepy as crap to me, like, ‘Okay, I’m the boss, Torrie, so the next scene is me and you are going to kiss.’ Like, really bro? Just the creepiness of it alone and then bro you’ve got the argument of what were these girls gonna say no? These girls were put in positions, what were they going to do or say?”
Vince Russo also noted that Vince McMahon’s retirement will affect a certain set of people, those being people who would’ve gladly done business with him in the past. We will now have to see what future holds for Mr. McMahon moving forward.
