“Anthony Davis … continues to progress in his recovery and has been cleared to advance his on court work. Additional updates will be given when appropriate,”

While the promising update will instil a lot of belief in the Lakers, coach Vogel has claimed that Davis is still a long way from making an appearance on the court for the team.

“But I’m not trying to rest up. I’m just trying to keep it as loose as possible… It’s not the actual Achilles tendon where you guys are thinking about, where it can be scary. It’s — I forgot the name of it — something that’s over it that’s pretty sore, so it’s not the actual tendon, which is why it’s comfortable me to play and get it loose, and why the doctors and training staff are comfortable enough to let me go out there and perform as well.” Davis had commented on the injury last month

Lakers struggling massively without Davis and LeBron

The defending champions are currently on a losing streak stemmed from the absences of Anthony Davis and LeBron James due to injury.

Davis was slated to be out for four weeks after suffering a calf injury and aggravating his Achilles injury against Denver Nuggets.

Lakers All-Star Anthony Davis re-aggravated his right Achilles tendonosis and there’s some swelling, He will get an MRI on Monday, sources reported last month

Davis has averaged 22.5 points, 8.4 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.8 blocks, all while shooting 53.3-percent from the field this season so far in the 23 games that he has played in.

In the four game losing streak, which includes the game LeBron was taken off, the Lakers were defeated convincingly by New Orleans Pelicans and Utah Jazz. They now play Cleveland Cavaliers in a bid to end their dismal run and thwart off competition in the Western Conference.

Their lean run has resulted in them sliding down to the fourth spot with LA Clippers extending their lead in the third spot while the Nuggets close in on them.
