Another Step In WWE NXT’s History Of Reviving The Past
The announcement was provided to the fans in midst of NXT Takeover 31. NXT has been returning to certain WCW concepts to freshen up the brand’s charisma. War Games was the first concept they brought back, and they have been using it quite successfully as a recurring feature. In the past three years, four matches with the stipulation has been held.
A few months earlier, NXT held a Takeover subtitled Great American Bash, the name of a popular and recurring pay per view from WCW.
NXT has also reminded people of the WWF concept of In Your House, which they returned to public eye in a show which were highly praised by the fans of the game.
was originally produced on pay-per-view (PPV) by the National Wrestling Alliance’s (NWA) World Championship Wrestling (WCW), from 1989 through 2000 before finally being revived by WWE NXT in 2020.
Since the event was held in October, it has a Halloween themed show. The first four events were held when WCW was affiliated with the National Wrestling Alliance. The final five events were held in the Las Vegas suburb of Paradise, Nevada, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. In 2015, all WCW pay-per-views were made available on the WWE Network.
In 2018, Las Vegas based company, KBN Inc. filed for the trademark of Halloween Havoc which according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office had been listed as “dead” since 2005. WWE had only recently filed for a trademark for the event.
“Wrestling’s scariest night of the year is back! NXT Halloween Havoc will take place Wednesday, Oct. 28, with NXT Superstar Shotzi Blackheart as host.”
“This marks the return of the celebrated sports-entertainment tradition for the first time in 20 years. First held in 1989, the October rite of passage grew to be one of WCW’s flagship events, featuring legends such as Ric Flair, Sting, Hulk Hogan, Goldberg and more. Which NXT Superstars will write the newest chapter in the Halloween Havoc history books?,” WWE stated in their official website.
