The first matchday of Week 17 of the 2020-21 NBA season has concluded and it’s time to take a look back at the scores and highlights of the matches and standings of the teams.

Knicks 111-96 Lakers

New York Knicks stepped up at the Madison Square Garden to convincingly defeat Los Angeles Lakers. Their third win in a row was marked by Julius Randle’s sensational 34 point and 10 rebound display.

In the continued absence of LeBron James and Anthony Davis, Denis Schroder led the scoring with 21 points and Andre Drummond registered 10 assists as well.

Mavericks 95-113 76ers

Dallas Mavericks lost the back-to-backs as Philadelphia 76ers sealed their spot at the top for another fixture atleast.

Luka Doncic’s 32 point display ended in vain with Joel Embiid thumping 36 points from the other end for a win.

Magic 97-120 Spurs

Unlike their state rivals, Spurs were able to win their back-to-back fixtures and did so in a convincing fashion against Orlando Magic at the Amway Center.

No one in the entire fixture individually registered 20 points for the cause as Spurs led for the majority of the encounter.

Jazz 121-125 Wizards

League leaders Utah Jazz were met with a shock loss at the hands of Washington Wizards. Russell Westbrook led the team with yet another triple double to close in on the 11th spot in the table.

Bradley Beal also posted 34 points to overshadow the 42 and 33 point efforts from Donovan Mitchell and Bojan Bogdanovic respectively.

Grizzlies 101-90 Bulls

Jonas Valanciunas’ 26 points and 14 rebounds along with Ja Morant’s 10 assists were enough to defeat Chicago Bulls at the FedEx Forum.

Zach LaVine led the scoring for the visitors with 21 points. The Bulls are now without a win from their last three games.

Pelicans 117-110 Kings

New Orleans Pelicans notched their third win in a row following a win against the Sacramento Kings at the Smoothie King Center.

Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram combined to score 64 points as Steven Adams recorded 16 rebounds as well.

De’Aaron Fox’s 43 point display went in vain with the Kings now losing seven matches in a row.

Warriors 116-107 Nuggets

Golden State Warriors rode on Steph Curry’s bedazzling 53 point display to register back to back wins.

Nikola Jokic notched 27 points and 12 points for the Nuggets, but the team were blown apart in the explosive third quarter performance by Warriors that yielded 43 points.

Suns 126-120 Rockets

A high scoring first half rewarded Suns with their 38th win of the season. On the other side, the Rockets were met with their 40th loss of the season.

Jae Crowder top scored for the hosts after notching 26 points at the Talking Stick Resort Arena.
