Damian Lillard Scores an outrageous 61 Points to bag crucial win, Phoenix Suns go 7-0 to keep their playoff hopes alive

Damian Lillard and Devin Booker may just be superhuman with their unbelievably impressive performances since the NBA restart in Orlando. The battle for the 8th seed goes down to the wire in the Western Conference. In the Eastern Conference, reigning MVP Giannis’ Antetokounmpo made the headlines for getting ejected after a headbutt to Wizards big man Moe Wagner. The headbutt resulted in Antetokounmpo’s fourth career ejection.

Dallas Mavericks 131 – 134 Portland TrailBlazers

On Tuesday, Damian Lillard scored a whopping 61 points, to beat the Dallas Mavericks 134-131. Lillard has now scored 112 points, in his last two games. The win moves the TrailBlazers into the 8th seed after Memphis Grizzlies lost to Boston Celtics. Lillard has been in unstoppable form and becomes only the second player to score 60+ points thrice in a season, after Wilt Chamberlain.

“Ain’t nothing I want more, When I came here (to Disney World) I told them I’m not here to waste my time. Our work ain’t done yet but we’re fighting for it.”, said Lillard.

With Grizzlies losing and dropping to 9th place, they would be hoping for favourable results to move back into 8th spot as the ninth-place team must defeat the eighth-place team twice to advance to the NBA playoffs. The No. 8 team needs to win only once.

Lillard made nine 3-pointers in his sixth 50-point game of the NBA season. He’s the 12th player in NBA history to score 50 points in back-to-back games. Portland TrailBlazers will be looking to finish as the 8th seed by Brooklyn Nets in their final seeding game.

Phoenix Suns 130 – 117 Philadelphia 76ers

The Phoenix Suns moved to an astounding 7-0 in the bubble after beating the Philadelphia 76ers 130-117 on Tuesday. It was another outstanding performance from Devin Booker, who has arguably been the best player in the NBA since the resumption. Booker scored 35 points, nine rebounds and seven assists for his third-straight 35-point effort and his fourth in five games.

“We’re controlling what we can control and that’s the eight games they gave us. … I don’t think there’s going to be any sad faces around here, whether we make the playoffs or not.” Booker said.

He’s scored 27, 30, 35, 20, 35, 35, and 35 points and still give the Suns an outside chance of making the playoffs. An 8-0 record by beating the Mavericks in the last game, would still not be enough to qualify, but they will be highly optimistic for the 2020-21 NBA season, regardless of the outcome.
