Ronda Rousey was the definite centerpoint of WWE’s women’s division since her appearance at Royal Rumble 2018, when she confronted Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss, SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair, and Asuka, who had just won the inaugural women’s Royal Rumble match.
After he in-ring debut in a mixed tag team match at Wrestlemania 34, Rousey quickly became a challenger for the Raw Women’s Championship, winning it in a squash match against Alexa Bliss at Summerslam.
Throughout her championship reign, she fended off challenges from Nikki Bella, Bayley, Mickie James, Natalya and Sasha Banks amongst others. At Wrestlemania 35, in a match for both Rousey’s Raw and Flair’s SmackDown Women’s Championships, Lynch controversially pinned Rousey to win both titles. The commentary and production team commented that Rousey was in the ring saying her shoulders were not down for the full three-count and showed a replay of the ending pin-pointing this fact. Ronda has since been on a hiatus from the company and professional wrestling.
Dolph Ziggler Has Had A Long History With WWE
On the other hand, Dolph Ziggler has been in WWE for a very long time, since he made his on-screen debut as a caddie for the controversial Kerwin White character. After a stint as Spirit Squad cheerleader Nicky, which gave him his first championship taste in WWE, the repackaged Dolph Ziggler.
Ziggler’s status in the WWE roster has been a point of disdain amongst WWE’s fans. Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s Dave Meltzer once said about the topic: “(Ziggler) has been the victim of as many stop-and-start pushes of anyone in history. The crowds always get behind him for the start, no matter how many false teases there are, and then a few weeks later, the company always takes him back down.“
Dolph Ziggler, who currently wrestles in the Raw brand, is just through a WWE Championship feud against former partner Drew McIntyre where he was defeated by ‘The Scottish Psychopath.’
