Ardent Liverpool fan, Adebayo Akinfenwa was congratulated by Jurgen Klopp after securing a berth in the next season’s EFL Championship.
In a charismatic post-match interview, the player had claimed that the only person to hit him up on WhatsApp is the Merseyside manager Jurgen Klopp. In the interview, he joked:
“Let me tell you something, the only person that can hit me up on WhatsApp this time is Klopp, so we can celebrate together. You get me? Oi!”

This was in reference to a similar post-match interview from four years back where he called out the managers to text him on WhatsApp after securing AFC Wimbledon a spot in the Championship. He had famously said, “I think I’m technically unemployed, so any managers hit me up on the WhatsApp and get me a job.”
Akinfenwa’s fanboy moment
The striker got his wish as the Liverpool manager duly appeared on Akinfenwa’s phone through a video call. Klopp expressed his congratulations and claimed that he watched the match but missed Akinfewna’s post-match interview antics. He added that it was Henderson and other squad members who let the entire story in.

I’m pretty sure you were your whole life at least a Championship player, and now finally you are there, well done. Great, great victory. Klopp added
The manager added that he hopes Akinfenwa celebrates this well-deserved victory, but in a responsible and diligent manner.
Akinfenwa’s love for the Premier League knows no bounds, as the striker proceeded to breach the club rules and pay a fine after wearing a Liverpool jersey for training after the side were crowned as the Premier League champions for the first time.
As an icing to the cake, in his Tuesday press match conference ahead of the Reds’ clash against Arsenal, Klopp claimed Akinfenwa would definitely be welcome to the celebratory parade, whenever it is possible to conduct in the future.
