Grizzlies look like a much better team with Ja Morant on the pitch

Morant played in just 9 games but he was brilliant in them. And Memphis won 6 of the 9 games Morant played in. He averaged 25.1 points, 8.1 assists and 5.6 rebounds in the games he played. However, his availability was not great.

Morant was unavailable for most of the 2023 season after inking a five-year, $193 million rookie extension to remain with the Grizzlies in 2022. And Morant was handed a 25- game suspension in June for openly displaying a firearm on social media.

It was the second time Morant was suspended with a gun related issue. Morant was suspended for eight games last season for a flashing a gun at a Colorado night club.

His comeback was cut short

Ja Marmont made a remarkable comeback last month when he hit the game winning shot against the New Orleans Pelicans along with producing 34 points
“They showed me a lot of support, they got on my ass a little bit, too, but it was needed,” Morant said of his circle during his suspension last month. “Obviously, learn from me for like, in this world a lot of us make mistakes. If you make a mistake, have another chance to fix it and reinvent yourself.

“I’m seeing, I’m hearing a lot of, ‘Ja, I’m proud of you with how you carry yourself,’ from them, and I can see how it changed them as well. … I feel like that’s the good that happened during this process. I actually don’t wish it happened, but we definitely took me, my family, my team to the next level.”

Memphis will be looking forward to getting Morant ready for next season. As there is no way back for Grizzlies this season.
