Fans Spot Taylor Swift’s ‘Death Stare’ After Koy Trolls Swift’s Frequent NFL Appearances at the Golden Globes

In the Golden Globes 2024 award, host Jo Koy made some comments about Taylor Swift attending NFL side Kansas City Chiefs games to watch boyfriend Travis Kelce. However, The joke didn’t go down well with the singer.

The singer was present at the Golden Globes in Los Angeles for her concert film Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, which was among the nominations.

Jo Koy’s joke misses mark; Taylor Swift reacts with a ‘death stare’

The comedian poked at the singer by saying, “The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL? On the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift… there’s just more to go to here.” Even though it was meant to lighten the mood, the look on Swift’s face was unconvincing. It also failed to make a mark amongst the audience.

Fans had the last laugh

Taylor Swift had a cold expression without much reaction as she took a sip of her drink. Fans have taken to social media to express this as her “death stare” and also criticised Jo Koy’s performance as the host.

In a talk with Variety, Jo Koy talked about how he lacked time to write jokes. He said, ”When they asked me, it was an immediate yes. I couldn’t believe this was happening – and then I woke up and went, ‘Wait a minute, I have two weeks to write jokes!”’ He added, “Actually, I think I had less than two weeks because I didn’t get my writers until five days later.”

Despite his lack of time to prepare as an insight into his nervousness for the big role, his joke on the popular superstar Taylor Swift hasn’t gone well with her fans, widely known as the Swifties.

Popular TV host Piers Morgan tweeted, “If Taylor Swift death stares could actually kill, Jo Koy would now be deceased”

Travis Kelce didn’t attend the Golden Globes despite being in Los Angeles, as he was scheduled to feature for the Chiefs against the Los Angeles Chargers and then travel with the team back to Kansas, thus missing out on the after-party too. However, in the final moments, he chose to rest to avoid any injury, as per head coach Andy Reid.
