Thiago Alcântara, the Bayern Munich star has agreed on a deal and he is set to join the last season’s Premier League Champions, Liverpool.

The move of Thiago Alcântara was on the cards since Bayern Munich lifted their sixth Champions League trophy after defeating the Ligue 1 Champions, PSG by a goal margin.
The 29-year-old agreed for a contract extension with The Bavarians. But, later he expressed his desire for a new challenge in the Premier League. He was heavily linked with the defending champions, Liverpool.
Uli Hoseness, former Bayern Munich President said, “We offered him [Thiago] a great four-year contract but in the last minute he changed his mind and told us he wants a new challenge. He probably has an agreement with Liverpool or Manchester United, or with both.”
After negotiations between the two parties, a breakthrough has been made for the deal. The Spanish midfielder would be joining the Reds for a fee of €30 million and would get bonuses for the individual accolades.
He would pen down a four years contract and sport the No.6 shirt at Anfield. No hints have been given when the midfielder would undergo the medical as he is still in Munich.
On Thursday, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Bayern Munich chairman had confirmed the move as he said, “FC Bayern have reached an agreement with Liverpool, Thiago is leaving!”
Thiago Alcântara enjoyed an excellent 2019/20 season. He netted three goals and two assists in 40 appearances in all competitions. He also won the treble last season.
Thiago Alcântara joined Bayern Munich after Pep Guardiola, the former boss of the club was impressed with the player. After spending seven years at the club, he was able to bag seven consecutive Bundesliga titles.
Thiago Alcântara has been on the close radar of Liverpool gaffer, Jurgen Klopp. He did not open up about the plans of signing the Spaniard but admired the player and addressed him as an “excellent player”.
The Spanish midfield would now join Kostas Tsimikas, as the second acquisition of the summer transfer window.
Now that the deal is wrapped up, it is needless to say how much important the addition he is to the squad.
