US soccer star Megan Rapinoe believes God doesn’t exist. She reckoned that she wouldn’t have suffered an injury if God existed.
Megan Rapinoe recently tried her best to shrug off an injury she sustained in her farewell match in Saturday night’s National Women’s Soccer League Championship match when OL Reign suffered a defeat against Gotham FC.
In the sixth minute, Megan Rapinoe went down and she suspected a torn Achilles. Rapinoe went down with a non-contact injury and attempted to play defense. However, thee medical personnel attended a heartbroken Rapinoe before she left the ground and sadly, ended her night and career.
Rapinoe gave a hug to Gotham FC player Ali Krieger, a former USWNT teammate who was competing in her last professional match, before she left the field. Rapinoe finished her career with the Reign scoring four goals and recording five assists in 15 matches in 2023. The Reign were the only squad she played on in the NWSL.
In the post-match press conference, Rapinoe said she was going to get the “Aaron Rodgers treatment” to try and recover from the injury. She said she’d reach out to him or whoever did his surgery. Furthermore, she said:
“I’m not a religious person or anything and if there was a god, like, this is proof that there isn’t,” Rapinoe said. “This is f—ed up. It’s just f—ed up. Six minutes in and I eat my Achilles.”
