Max Verstappen commended Norris for maintaining a strong pace on medium tires, expressing admiration for Norris’s skill and strategy. Verstappen went on to acknowledge that he himself would have struggled to achieve the same feat. Furthermore, Verstappen emphasized that even if the safety car had not been deployed, he would not have been able to overtake Norris, highlighting the extent of Norris’s impressive performance throughout the race.

For Norris, this victory was a redemption story. His near-miss in Russia in 2021 haunted him, but in Miami, he proved that he belongs among the elite race winners. The young Briton’s calm demeanor and impeccable driving skills secured his place in Formula 1 lore.

As the champagne sprayed on the podium, Norris reflected on his journey: “It’s been a long road, but this win is for the team, for McLaren, and for all the fans who have supported me.”

Norris started the race in sixth position, with his fast-starting teammate Oscar Piastri initially looking like the one to cause an upset. However, a timely Safety Car intervention played perfectly into Norris’ hands as he extended his opening stint.
