Unlike their recent Premier League encounter, Manchester United were able to assert much more command from the word go at the Amex Stadium. Scott McTominay opened the scoring for the Red Devils after a pinpoint delivery from Juan Mata. The delivery found the unmarked midfielder who got the back of the next with a perfectly connected header.

Dean Henderson brought up a stellar reflex save to keep Manchester United in the contest with the score still at 1-0. Trossard’s point-blank effort was kept away by the 23-year-old with his left hand to continue his good start with the club.

Juan Mata brought up his 50th goal for the club following a neat finish with his weaker right foot. The Spaniard was caught in space with a wonderful backheel by Donny van de Beek.

Paul Pogba wrapped up the proceedings with a freekick that found its way following a deflection off the wall. It only took the French midfielder eleven minutes to get a goal after being brought on in the 69th minute in place of Daniel James.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer delighted with selection headache that is to come

Solskjaer heaped praise on the side that attained victory at the Amex and admitted that he now has a selection headache with the lineup.

“Yeah, of course. You want to go through in the cups, of course, but the players get a chance to get match minutes and impress. If you play well and perform… I thought the two in midfield, Scotty and Fred, were a shield in front of the back four as well and they were fantastic. I have got a couple of challenges, or headaches, or good decisions to make.”, Solskjaer said

Manchester United have a big clash ahead of them against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League next.
