Lakers are struggling with their new side in the preseason.

The team had a very busy offseason after making the decision to execute a complete overhaul to the side. The Lakers struggled with injuries to LeBron James and Anthony Davis last season and crashed out in the first round of the playoffs to eventual finalists Phoenix Suns.

The 2020 NBA Champions released the likes of Dennis Schroder, Alex Caruso, Kyle Kuzma, and others to recruit Russell Westbrook, Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard, Trevor Ariza, DeAndre Jordan, Rajon Rondo.

They started their preseason with a loss to the Brooklyn Nets. They followed that up with twin defeats to Phoenix Suns. A final preseason fixture against Sacramento Kings awaits them tomorrow.

LeBron James addressed the team’s form but felt that the new teammates still need some time to get to know each other a little better on the court. He said:

“It’s going to take a minute for us to become the team that we know we are going to be capable of being. We’re going to have moments where we’re not quite right there. We may take steps backwards. But that’s all part of … I think nothing is worth having if it’s not worth working for.”

The veteran also spoke about the importance of not getting frustrated despite things not being optimum at the moment. He added:

“Me, as a leader, my job is for myself not to get frustrated,” he said. “If I don’t get frustrated, I think it will trickle down to everyone else. I’ve never been a person that’s OK with not being excellent. But I understand things take time as well. As long as I keep the main thing. The main thing, stay even keel throughout whatever is going on with our ballclub, then we’ll be fine.”

Los Angeles Lakers will kickstart the season against the Golden State Warriors. While they suffered a loss to their Western Conference rivals in the pre season, they had the last laugh when the two sides met last time in the season, during the play-in tournament.
