On Wednesday, Dennis Schroder celebrated his 28th birthday by posting a new selfie on his social media with the caption:
“I’m gonna do this ONE time! Insert your best ‘fumbled the bag’ joke here. 👇🏿 😂 It’s my birthday 🥳🎈so let’s get this over with and get back to business!”
In his post, he clearly poked fun at himself for turning down a lucrative deal from the Lakers. Instead of having others troll him, he decided to drive the narrative starting with the birthday post.
In the photo Dennis is seen posing with some luxury luggage brands and two luxury cars with his head in his hands.
The NBA star had earlier turned an extension from the Lakers which could have made his pocket heavy. Had he signed the deal he would have been paid $21 million annually, but he took a decision that surprised his fans. Instead of that, Dennis struck a deal with the Celtics for $5.9 million. The contract will up in a year and Dennis will be a free agent again.
Apparently, it was a conscious decision to increase his market value in the future.
Well, fans might think that he made too much of a bargain and ended up losing money but the basketball ball has earned nearly $70 million during his entire career. It is expected that Dennis’s value will increase in the next year once he is free from the contact he signed with the Celtics.
Dennis best performance had been at the Oklahoma City when he played for the Lakers. He had the position of a Sixth Man. He even ended up as a runner up during the award season.
