On the August 14 episode of WWE Smackdown, Joseph Park a.k.a Abyss, former TNA wrestler made his debut. There was an in-ring segment along with “The Phenomenonal One”, AJ Styles, speaking about next contender for his WWE Intercontinental Championship.

The in-ring segment saw AJ Styles, the current WWE Intercontinental Champion questioning about who should be next challenger for his title. He named few wresters like Drew Gulak, Matt Riddle, Gran Metallik and claims himself to be the defending champion. Talking about statistics he came up with the idea of Phenomnenal Intercontinental Statistical System (PISS). He refered Park as his statistician. He then revealed the white board where it was written AJ Styles as number 1. He revealed the rest of the board to be empty and said none has earned the opportunity and is not Phenomenal enough to be on the board.

Jeff Hardy interrupted AJ Styles. He said he is the deserving one after he was taken out by Sheamus in the tournament for WWE Intercontinental Championship and challenges for the title. Jeff Hardy hits Styles with the Twist of Fate and wrote his name with the marker.

Joseph Park and AJ Styles were seen backstage. Styles tried to wipe Hardy’s name off the board but the marker turned out to be a ‘permanent one’.

Following this Joseph Park took to Twitter and apologized to AJ Styles for his mistake and tweeted, “My apologies to @AJStylesOrg, for my dereliction of duty in the “marker-gate” incident on #SmackDownOnFox tonight. That @JEFFHARDYBRAND assaulted you AJ. I saw the whole thing! @WWE @WWEonFOX”

Some hilarious tweets started flooding in while some fans enjoyed watching Joseph Park back on TV after the incident.

The Joseph Park character a.k.a the brother of Abyss was introduced back in 2012 in TNA. Park joined WWE in 2019 as producer after being with TNA for a long tenure. Park with his Abyss persona had some memorable battles with AJ Styles during their time in TNA. Joseph Park(Abyss) had previously won the NWA World Tag Team Championship with A.J. Styles. The ‘Abyss’ character was also put in the TNA Hall of Fame in 2018

Now, it is to be seen how WWE plays the storyline. Fans are delighted with the first appearance of Joseph Park in WWE and would love to see Park on a regular basis.
