Iga Swiatek, the talented Polish tennis player, recently shared her candid thoughts about her involvement in the Netflix documentary series “Break Point.” The series, which focused on the lives of tennis players, garnered attention for its behind-the-scenes look at the sport. However, for Swiatek, it also brought unexpected challenges.

Iga Swiatek’s “Break Point” Series

“Break Point” was Netflix’s attempt to capture the drama, passion, and intensity of professional tennis. Similar to other successful sports documentaries like F1’s “Drive to Survive,” the show aimed to provide viewers with an intimate view of the lives of tennis stars. The first season, released in two parts in 2023, featured established players and rising talents, including Nick Kyrgios, Aryna Sabalenka, and Iga Swiatek.

“I was involved only in Season 1, and I gotta say that it was kind of a test for me if I’m going to be comfortable talking about my life and, like, opening up so much”

“But I think it was a great idea, but I think we have many different and complicated stories that it’s hard to describe them in couple of episodes. On the other hand, like, in other sports it’s the same case. Honestly, it’s hard for me to compare why it didn’t work out in tennis but it did in golf and Formula 1.

“I can only speak about my perspective. I think that the Netflix guys were really nice and really cooperative but in the end there wasn’t much impact we had in terms of editing some stuff we didn’t like.” Iga Swiatek said.

Iga Swiatek’s Experience

Swiatek’s appearance in the series was a pivotal moment for her. As the reigning US Open champion, she was already in the spotlight, but “Break Point” offered a deeper dive into her life. In the ninth episode of the first season, titled “Under Pressure,” the documentary highlighted her campaign in New York.

However, it wasn’t all positive. Swiatek and her team, especially her psychologist Daria Abramowicz, faced criticism from tennis fans. The controversy centered around their relationship, which some viewers deemed “weird.” In one scene, Abramowicz appeared to have the final say about Swiatek’s hairstyle, leading to insinuations that she was “controlling.”
