Andrea Kimi Antonelli is a Mercedes junior driver who has already completed his first F1 test with the German manufacturer. Despite his young age, he has accumulated the necessary 40 super license points required to race in Formula 1.

The FIA has received a request to grant Antonelli a super license before he turns 18. According to the FIA’s International Sporting Code, a driver must be at least 18 years old at the start of their first F1 competition. However, there are rumors that the FIA may grant “special dispensation” for Antonelli to make his debut early.

Antonelli completed a test session in the Mercedes W13, the car that nearly secured Lewis Hamilton’s eighth world title in 2021. The Imola circuit provided a challenging environment for the young driver, allowing him to demonstrate his adaptability and skill.

Wolff said, “I don’t know where this belief comes from that Mercedes was keen on pushing that forward. Kimi needs to concentrate on his F2 campaign and he knows that. Everything else is just rumours, which continue to spin around and that are factually incorrect. He’s an F2 driver for Prema, that is what he’s doing, and this is what we’re all concentrating on.”
