Speaking to Autosport about the situation, Vowles said: “I’ve known Adrian for a while anyway, and I spoke to him Friday. I’m sure we’ll be talking again, very shortly as well. “He is an icon of our sport. There is no doubt about it. Every team he’s been to since Williams has been championship material. And that’s not a coincidence, that is just simply the effect he has on the sport. “It would be remiss of me to not be talking to him. It is as simple as that.”
Adrian Newey’s history with Williams
Newey’s history with Williams dates back to the 1990s, when he played a pivotal role in the team’s success. During that period, Williams secured four separate championship wins, with Newey’s innovative designs at the heart of their triumphs. His subsequent stints at McLaren and Red Bull further solidified his reputation as a game-changer.
Vowles acknowledges the enormity of the task ahead, regardless of Newey’s involvement. Williams faces significant challenges, but the allure of a Newey-Williams partnership is undeniable. Vowles describes it as a “dream team,” emphasizing the impact Newey could have on the team’s performance.
