According to Greek police sources, Harry Maguire along with nine of his friends got into a fight with a group of English tourists outside Fabrica bar in the early hours, at the same time when the midnight curfew in Mykonos was in action due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cops arrived at the scene after reports were made by local residents. Due to breaking curfew restrictions, the cops had asked Maguire and his fellow brawlers to come to the police station. The assault took place after they refused.

Petros Vassilakis, a spokesperson for the Greek police stated that Maguire was “verbally abusive to an officer and then hit him.”

“All of the three were arrested but during the effort to do so, the other two, including the football player, got violent also. They threw down at least two policemen, hit them with their fists and kicked them,” the spokesperson added, further saying that Maguire was swearing at the officers in English.

“The club is aware of an alleged incident involving Harry Maguire in Mykonos last night,” said United in an official statement.

The Premier League giants also added that their captain has been cooperative with the Greek authorities, but made no further comments on the matter.

Although Maguire was bailed after being held by the cops, he is now transferred to Syros with the other two, and are expected undergo trial later.

Manchester United will kick start the 2020-21 Premier League season on 19th September when they take on Crystal Palace at the Old Trafford.
