USC’s Caleb Williams has surprisingly declined to take part in NFL combine medical exams, making him the first player to do so in the history of the combine according to Jonathon Jones of CBS Sports. Fans believe Williams to get selected first overall in the NFL draft which is scheduled to take place in April in Detroit. According to the reports, the 22-year-old has refused to participate in medical exams with all 32 NFL teams during the Indianapolis Scouting Combine, which began on February 29.

The quarterback has still not revealed the reason behind him making such decisions, Caleb Williams’ decision might have something to do with the repetition of the same test many times for different NFL teams. Despite not taking part in some combined events, Williams will most likely be selected first overall in this year’s draft.
The 2022 Heisman Trophy winner is expected to have meetings with The Chicago Bears, Atlanta Falcons, Washington Commanders, Minnesota Vikings, Las Vegas Raiders, New York Jets, New England Patriots, and New York Giants in the combine.
After the news of Caleb Williams’s decision went viral, fans on the internet raised concerns over whether Williams is the first quarterback to decide not to throw at the combine. Fans were shocked to know that Jayden Daniels who won the 2023 Heisman trophy, who is also participating in the combine this year has also decided to not throw and work out for scouts until LSU’s pro day.
Robert Griffin III, Andrew Luck, Matthew Stafford, Joe Burrow, Sam Darnold, Kyler Murray, and Bryce Young are a few names who have previously declined to throw at the Combine.
Caleb Williams recently responded to Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Poles’ comments on Quarterbacks being artists or surgeons.
Caleb Williams, an artist or a surgeon?
while talking with the media Caleb Williams responded to Poles’ comments.
“I’ve actually heard that about the artist or surgeon thing,” he said with a smile. “I like to think that when it’s time to be surgical, it’s time to be surgical. There’s been many games where it gets late in the game and I’ve ran or scrambled and threw a crazy pass. That’s being the artist, the magician.”
These comments from Williams and additional interest in comments from a Bears official have excited their fans and they have already started dreaming of the Quarterback donning their jersey.
