Joel Embiid is expected to return to the Philadelphia 76ers this season. The Philadelphia 76ers are on a bad run of form as they have lost 12 of their last 16 games in the NBA, but still, the 76ers camp has an air of optimism around them. Fans are confident that Embiid’s return will reignite the lost spark in the 76ers team.
The reigning league MVP was asked in his first media availability since Jan. 25, if he’s coming back this season.
“That’s the plan,” he said. “Obviously, everything has to go right, as far as getting healthy and being as close as I’m supposed to be. But that’s the plan, ”he said.
Joel Embiid revealed that the timing of his return will depend on his physical fitness and how his body responds to the training.
“If it feels great then that’s good,” Embiid said. “If it doesn’t feel good, then you gotta keep going.”
When is Joel Embiid expected to return?
Embiid can make a return in mid or late March according to reports. The seven-time All-Star opened up on how eager he is to get back to the court and how much he loves playing basketball.
“I just love playing basketball,” he said. “I just want to be on the floor as much as possible. I only have about 20 years to do this. So any chance that I get, I want to be on the floor. So it doesn’t matter where we are [in the standings], I don’t know, four, five, three, seven, eight, nine, 10, 11. It didn’t really matter where we are. I just want to play as much as we can and try to help us.”
The injury has not affected his plans to play for U.S. basketball in this summer’s Paris Olympics. He’s taking the same strategy he’s applied to the Sixers this season.
“If it feels good, then I’m playing. … The plan is to play,” he said. “Like I said, I don’t know how long it’s going to take.”
Joel Embiid’s return is crucial for the Philadelphia 76ers as things are clearly not clicking for the team and they need a force like Embiid to turn them into the right decision.
