The former WWE star Aleister Black (Tommy End) was recently handed a release few weeks ago along with several other top stars. Now as it turns out, Black could be on his way to sign a deal with AEW.
Will Tony Khan sign Aleister Black?
Black had made his return with a new gimmick and had immediately attacked the former WWE Intercontinental Champion, Big E but the company took him off the programming and soon announced his release. While there have been lot of speculations over his next destination, AEW is on top of the list.
Though, it is not official whether he would be signing with Tony Khan’s company but as per the reports of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the former NXT Champion could be headed towards AEW.
Black is under a standard 90-day non-compete clause with WWE, and will not be able to sign with AEW or any other company until Tuesday, August 31.
Reports also suggest that there are people in WWE who are pushing for Black to be brought back to WWE.
Aleister Black hints on signing with AEW
The former NXT star Aleister Black recently appeared on the “Oral Sessions” podcast with Renee Paquette and expressed his desire to square off against a handful of stars across AEW, Impact Wrestling, and ROH including Impact & AEW World Champion Kenny Omega.
He also named other stars like Moose, Sami Callihan, Christopher Daniels, Jon Moxley, Brian Cage, Brody King, Homicide, Eddie Kingston, and Jungle Boy.
Black also expressed interest in signing with New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW). He recalled his experience in Japan and revealed he loves and misses working there. It seems he is not ruling out a potential return to NJPW as well.
He said: “I think it’s no secret that I have a lot of love for New Japan. New Japan would be phenomenal,” he said. “I love Japan. I miss Japan. Even thinking about it gives me butterflies.”
During the podcast, he said that he is still uncertain about his upcoming plans but he did mention that he would not spill the beans just yet. We will have to see where Black eventually decides to sign.
