Daniil Medvedev made light work of Diego Schwartzman in the Paris Masters quarterfinals to set up a semifinal clash against Milos Raonic.
The tournament was extremely important for Schwartzman who needed a run to semis to be absolutely sure of his qualification for London. However with his prime competition, Pablo Carreno Busta also bowing out, Schwartzman is all but ensured of the final berth in London.
Pablo Carreno Busta was defeated by Spanish legend Rafael Nadal in a 4-6,7-5,6-1 win for the latter.
Schwartzman hammered by Medvedev-
This was the 4th meeting between the duo and Medvedev continued his 100% winning record against Schwartzman.
World number five Medvedev, whose seven ATP titles have all come on hard courts, broke Diego’s serve in the third game and did not let up.
The current world number 9 never looked like mounting a comeback, winning just one of 28 points on Medvedev’s first serve.
“Since I won yesterday (Thursday) I’m just watching Pablo because it’s the only opponent I have right now,” Schwartzman had said after the loss.

Talking about his on-court performance, he labeled the display as disappointing.
“I was doing everything bad today,” admitted Schwartzman. “It can happen, but it’s disappointing.

Rafa fulfills Schwartzman’s wish to set up a semifinal clash against Zverev-
Rafael Nadal on the other hand made light work of Pablo Carreno Busta and reach the Paris Masters semi-finals on Friday, handing Argentinian Diego Schwartzman the last ATP Tour Finals place in the process.
“The thing that really matters to me, I need to return better,” said Nadal.
“My serve is working well, I think, so the rest of the game more or less I am playing better and better.
“I need to return better if I want to have chances to keep going.” concluded the Spaniard.

Fourth seed Zverev reached the semis for the first time by extending his winning streak to 11 matches with a hard-fought success over Wawrinka.
The 23-year-old German broke Wawrinka when the Swiss served for the second set before overpowering his opponent in the tie-break.
Zverev will take on Nadal in the semis against whom he has a 5-1 losing record.
