The short video contained a short yet powerful message. The wordings “We Are With You” appears first in English and then in Assamese.

This kind gesture has won hearts all over the country with the post flooded with appreciation for the club for noticing their plight and offering their support while at it.

Arsenal’s response has irked several citizens of the country as prominent celebrities of India are yet to comment on the dire situation.

Actor Adil Hussain expressed his frustration in a tweet as he felt that Assam is fighting a lone battle as the rest of the country watches on. He said:

Arsenal FC #ArsenalFC @Arsenal stands with Assamese People. I don’t understand why, then, our Celebrities, Mainstream Media, Cricket Stars are not raising their voices in support of Assamese people! So disappointed with you all.

Apart from Arsenal, the situation also brought in the sympathy of Dalai Lama himself who proceeded to write to Assam’s chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal Friday in order to express his sympathy. Dalai Lama also assured that donations would be made through the Dalai Lama Trust. The gesture was met with a token of gratitude from the chief minister through a tweet.

The Gunners’ gesture has truly won over an entire nation as they made the effort to show their support while the authorities and mainstream celebrities opt to look the other way. The club from London could use all the well wishes as they gear up to face Manchester City in the semi-finals of the FA Cup at Wembley later today.
