The entire college football was under expectations of a blazing performance from Michael Penix at the National Championship game. Unfortunately, not only did the star quarterback of the Washington Huskies underperform, he also missed essential downfield passes that contributed to the Huskies’ bowing out to the Wolverines in the final.
After getting obliterated by the Wolverines in the first quarter of the championship game which sent the Huskies to a 3-17 trail in Q2, Michael Penix threw a long downfield pass to WR Rome Odunze, who was wide open at the front to land a touchdown, but in utter disappointment to the fans, the QB missed the pass to the WR, even though Penix is well known for much more precise passes in much more difficult openings.
Playing with two surgically repaired knees, Penix’s deep ball accuracy was seemingly absent from tonight’s game against the Wolverines, as there were multiple instances of the quarterback lacking his elite precision down the field.
Huskies fans expressed their dissatisfaction upon seeing the underperformance from Michael Penix, and took to X.com to express their opinions, while some resorted to trolling the quarterback.
“I watched Penix drop footballs in windows the size of basketball hoops from 40 yards multiple times with the best defensive line duo in the country in his face just a week ago. Just to see this tonight? Wild,” wrote @CJVogel_OTF regarding Penix.

Rome kinda slowed down just as he threw. Somehow they were off

“It’s almost as if Michigan’s defense had Penix frazzled where as Texas supposed “Best Dline duo” didnt get it done,” added @Madness1861.

Michael Penix’s college chapter closes with a beating
As the Huskies fell apart against Michigan, Michael Penix clocked a total of 255 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions, as his sixth attempt to lift the team to the trophy went in vain.
“Everybody knows my story. I’ve been through a lot. I’ve had ups and downs. But I’m thankful for it all. I’m super blessed,” Penix said after the game. “I just feel like it came down to executing. I missed a couple of throws. Just a couple of reads on routes and stuff like that. Just small details within our system that we do great all the time.” [H/T US News]
