Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors flagged off their pre-season with a game against the Denver Nuggets. The game was contested behind closed doors at the Oracle Arena and allowed Curry to try out an updated version of his mandatory pre-game shot from the tunnel.
While the three-time NBA Champion is known to make the shot from the tunnel in from the fans, the absence of the fans allowed him a bigger arc to try his ritual from.
As a result, instead of using the tunnel right beside the court, Curry went one step ahead and used the tunnel in the stands, a floor above the arena.
After getting a ball from the court, he immediately went for the shot which found nothing but net in a satisfying manner. Check out the video right below:
The shot looks even more scintillating from a far off angle, making it much more impressive.
Curry aiming to make it count this season
Golden State Warriors endured a rather forgetful campaign last time around with Steph Curry and Klay Thompson sidelined with major injuries. While Thompson is set to miss the 2019-20 season as well, Curry’s return sheds some positive light as they aim to improve from their bottom-placed finish in the conference table.
“To kind of have a fresh reset from the five-year run was — I wouldn’t call it necessary because I would have loved to have been playing last year, but it was useful,”
“And now it’s about turning that into momentum coming in this season. And I think a leader, and with me [and] Draymond [Green] and what we have to accomplish this year, hopefully gives us a little chip on our shoulder, a fresh perspective, and understanding what the challenge is ahead of us. We’ve had a lot of successes, a lot of experiences these last five years, [it’s] been a crazy roller coaster. It almost feels like we’re starting at ground zero again which is kind of awesome.”
With the addition of James Wiseman through the draft, the franchise are out to make it count this time. The franchise have started relatively well in their first pre season fixture against the Nuggets.
They are currently leading 77-68 in the third quarter with Curry leading the way with 10 points, 3 assists, and 1 rebound.
