Attackers have found it difficult to dribble past defender Victor Lindelof this season on the pitch. Despite the culmination of the season, it seems as if Lindelof has not lost his touch after nabbing a bag thief who had stolen a handbag off a 90-year-old woman.
The 26-year-old returned back to his native land of Sweden after Manchester United’s semi-final exit to Sevilla in the Europa League.
As per the police records in the city of Vasteras, Lindelof prevented the robbery of an elderly woman. The thief, who was on a bicycle stole the handbag off the victim and made a dash for it before being brought to a half. According to the police:
“The man came on a bicycle and snatched the older woman’s bag which she kept in the basket on her walker,”
“A man who was nearby ran after the suspect and made a citizens arrest until police had arrived. The man who intervened very wisely was athletically built, I can not say more than that, says Daniel Wikdahl.
While the police refuse to reveal the identity of the person, Swedish media outlet SportBladet claim that it was indeed Lindelof who had caught the culprit and managed to hold him off until the arrival of the police.
Moreover, according to the source, Lindelof’s wife Maja is said to be a witness to the incident. The police reportedly received the call at 10:40 AM and reached to the scene 5 minutes after.
“The police want to take the opportunity and thank the witness for a quick and wise intervention to restore the plaintiff’s property ,” the police write.
Lindelof’s form aided Manchester United’s impressive defensive numbers
With the acquisition of Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bisakka, Manchester United attained a formidable backline, something they have failed to achieve in the recent past.
The 26-year-old was on the field for 3443 minutes across 46 appearances across the season. His only goal of the season came during the Red Devils’ enthralling 2-2 draw against Aston Villa at Old Trafford.
