Tottenham Hotspur have emerged a late candidate vying for the services of Real Madrid left-back Sergio Reguilon. The North London club have reportedly complied to the La Liga side’s demand of placing a buy-back clause inserted into the contract, pipping them as favourites to sign the player ahead of the Red Devils as things stand.
Reguilon, who played for La Liga outfit Sevilla as part of a loan deal has moved back to Real Madrid. With the player available for a price tag of 30 million Euros, Sevilla backed out while Manchester United expressed their interest to bring Reguilon to Old Trafford to provide competition for starter Luke Shaw.
Manchester United are reportedly unwilling to sign the left-back with a buy-back clause included by parent club Real Madrid. Yet another clause that the Red Devils are not keen of is the pre-emption clause, which means that the La Liga champions can bring the player back to the Spanish capital if they match the bid put in by another club in the future.
However, Jose Mourinho and Tottenham Hotspurs have ignited a late interest for the player and have no issues with the clauses which Real Madrid wish to include in the contract during the transfer.
Reguilon gained admirers after his exceptional performances down the left flank for Sevilla which was eventually rewarded with a Europa League title and a fourth-placed finish in the La Liga table.
Double Deal? : Tottenham Hotspur aiming high
Inquiring about Reguilon, Tottenham Hotspur president Daniel Levy is reported to have pitched an interest in bringing back Gareth Bale to Spurs as part of a loan deal initially.
The talks have intensified with Bale’s agent confirming the player’s interest in returning back to the club where he made his name. Los Blancos are speculated to be flabbergasted by Bale’s actions off the field and have no issues parting ways.
Tottenham Hotspur have already secured two signings in the form of right-back Matt Doherty and midfielder Pierre-Emile Højbjerg. The club is searching for an alternative striker as a backup to Harry Kane and have reportedly lined-up Eintracht Frankfurt’s Bas Dost as the prime target to pursue.
Jose Mourinho’s first full season in charge of the club did not start off on an eventful note after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Everton at home in the Premier League.
