WBC interim lightweight champion Ryan Garcia (21-0, 18KOs) is ready to step inside a new ring this time, the Hollywood ring.

The unbeaten 22-year-old American pugilist, who’s fan base applauds Garcia for his film star looks, is ready to make his debut in the silver screen in a boxing feature film that is reportedly inspired from his own life.

The feature film, a joint effort from One Community and Endeavor Content will a Mexican-American boxer loosely based on and inspired by Garcia’s life as well as his career as a professional pugilist.

The movie, which is yet to be determined a title, has not begun shooting yet and will feature Jane the Virgin star Gina Rodriguez as the leading actress as well as producer and co-screenwriter, alongside Bernardo Cubria.

“I am very excited about the opportunity to work with Gina, Bernardo, One Community, and Endeavor Content on this project,” said Garcia, “My goals have always been to prove myself in the ring and to also continue to share my story in hopes that it will inspire others.”

Ever since making a great start to 2021 by defeating Luke Campbell via a 7th round TKO on 2nd January, Garcia is yet to return to the squared circle and has not been able to finalise any fights so far.

Recently, the boxer spoke up on dealing with anxiety and depression, which was also the reason why his fight against Javier Fortuna was called off on 24th April, and the energetic youngster took some time off from the limelight.

However, Garcia is hopeful to make a stout return to the sport and while he is ready to make his debut in Hollywood, he assures that boxing will always remain as his priority.

“Boxing will always be at the forefront of my career and I cannot wait to return to the ring very soon as a stronger and healthier KingRy,” he added. (H/T BoxingScene)

Although his Fortuna fight was called off, Ryan Garcia can still get his promotional company to recall the fight. On the other hand, the WBC interim champion can easily look forward to bigger opportunities, for example, a direct title fight against WBC lightweight titleholder Devin Haney is also a likely option.
