In a shocking and bizarre turn of events, Watford center forward Adalberto Peñaranda is set to depart from the club following a leaked video in which he appears to be engaging in some kind of sex party.
The Venezuelan footballer, who has been at Watford for the last 4 years didn’t enjoy the kind of success that he looked destined to in the earlier part of his career and had only made three competitive appearances for the Hornets, two in the FA Cup and the other in the EFL Cup.
But Peñaranda’s career seems to be in even deeper waters following the sensational video leak.
The party that may ruin a career-
Adalberto Peñaranda had started trending on July 29, after posting a series of intimate videos on his Instagram stories.
The videos that were originally published under the “best friends” option were leaked through the networks and shows a party with many women in underwear, and performing dances a little risque.
The youngster, who had joined Watford in 2016 following a transfer fee of £9.54m, had spent the majority of his career on loan in Italy at clubs like Udinese and La Liga clubs like Malaga and Granada. It was only in January last year that he made his debut for the Hornets.
Adalberto Peñaranda had earlier taken the world by storm in 2015 when he had become the youngest player in La Liga to score a brace in 2-1 win for Granada against Levante, breaking the record long held by Lionel Messi. It was an extraordinary start for a career that has since then struggled to reach it’s predicted zenith.
In the leaked video, four naked women are seen writhing on a bed. The camera pans behind one of the women, now in a g-string, as she gyrates wildly on the bed. Later the sordid group appears to be dancing under disco lights.
What’s next for Peñaranda-
Watford is expected to cut the ties from the youngster following the entire fiasco. Fans of the club are expectedly devastated following the incident.
“This video is a disgrace from a millionaire footballer who should know better.”
“The club cannot be associated with this kind of behavior, and there was no doubt despite his exciting potential, the player had to go.” one of the fans echoed.
The entire incident couldn’t have happened at a more unfortunate time for Watford who, having relegated from the PL are looking at significant revenue losses as well as the departure of some of their best players.
The entire episode does bring to the fore the reason why so many footballers who are tipped to be “Star of the future” go into obscurity following a promising start. The world of football is one full of glamor, parties , drugs, and sex. But , to a player who is aiming for the zenith, the only thing that should matter is the 100 yards of football field.
Let us hope that Adalberto Peñaranda can somehow redeem his faltering career following what may very well have just been a careless mistake, albeit one with huge repercussions
