Pat McAfee’s rivalry with Adam Cole, while unexpected, is not truly an unbelievable phenomenon. The slow-burning rivalry has reached its breaking point now, with him destroying Cole at the end of this week’s NXT. Now it seems that the two will face each other very soon.

This week at NXT, Imperium’s Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel retained their NXT Tag Team titles by defeating The Undisputed Era’s Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish. The match, however, was overshadowed by McAfee’s insults to Cole from the Commentary booth, leading to colour commentator Beth Phoenix leave the broadcast. In the end, Cole had enough of it, and Triple H and Shawn Michaels had to come out to seperate the two. He ended the show with insulting Cole once again, leading the later to lunge at him, prone to an experienced punt kick from the former.

Triple H Challenged McAfee To A Match Against Adam Cole

This led to Triple H challenging him to face Adam Cole in a match. “There is one thing about Pat McAfee that everyone should understand; Pat grew up dreaming about being a WWE superstar. It is everything he thought he would ever be as a kid. He ended up in the NFL and one of the most successful and toughest kickers ever, but his dream was to be in WWE. The spotlight is really what he craves. It’s all about Pat McAfee. That’s a good thing, but in this situation, he is craving this spotlight and he is doing it by going after Adam Cole. He is in his head.

Pat McAfee wants to be famous, I can make his dream come true. You wanna be famous? We have a big TakeOver on August 22, put your money where your mouth is. Pat McAfee vs. Adam Cole,” said Hunter.

Later, WWE announced that he had accepted Triple H’s challenge of a match against Adam Cole.

The former NFL Star’s feud with Cole started much earlier in March 2018, when he prevented Cole from winning a match against Aleister Black via disqualification. Later, the feud escalated through a podcast, where Cole became very frustrated with Pat during the interview for saying that the Undisputed Era was the reason for his success and he wouldn’t have achieved all that he has on his own because he was a small guy. This would cause Cole to eventually curse out at him, break his microphone, push his friend, and storm out of the interview, leading to the NXT punt and the match.
