In her WWE Hall Of Fame induction speech, retired Superstar Nikki Bella conveyed a personal message to John Cena.
NIKKI BELLA WAS ONCE ENGAGED TO JOHN CENA
Nikki Bella was once involved in a real-life relationship with John Cena, which was introduced into their professional wrestling personae. She began dating Cena in 2012. The couple became engaged on April 2, 2017, when Cena proposed to her after their mixed tag-team match at WrestleMania 33. However, on April 15, 2018, the couple called off the engagement and cancelled their wedding, which was planned for May 5, 2018.
The reason behind the break-up was rumoured to be a refusal by John Cena to have children. Cena is now dating Shay Shariatzadeh, whom she met during a film shoot. Bella is now engaged to her Dancing with the Stars partner and Russian dancer Artem Chigvintsev. She gave birth to Matteo Artemovich Chigvintsev in July 2020.
In the Hall Of Fame speech, Nikki thanked “John” for helping her to truly understand the professional wrestling industry, and for helping her to unlock her fearless side. As She had already thanked her stepfather: Johnny Ace / John Laurinatis before, John Cena was the only viable direction of the speech.
“And to John, thank you for helping me figure out this business and helping me find my fearless side,” she said during her Hall Of Fame speech.
CENA, HOWEVER, WAS NOT PRESENT
John Cena, however, was not present at the ceremony, as he was busy filming a Peacemakers spin-off for HBO Max.
The Twins are both former Divas Champions, with Nikki having held the title two times and Brie once. Nikki is also the longest-reigning holder of that title. She is also the 2015 Diva of the Year Slammy Award winner. Brie won The 2013 and 2014 Couple of the Year Slammy Awards alongside her husband Daniel Bryan.
The duo had also thanked WWE superstar Kofi Kingston on their podcast during the lead-up to the Hall Of Fame:
“And there are some people that…and you’ve never changed. We always talk about it… a lot of people actually talk about it. Like Kofi’s been one person who’s never changed. He’s the same person from day one. But that really helped Nicole and I. We’re just so grateful for you and so thankful. Because you have no idea what it did for us,” they said about the former WWE Champion.
