PSG talisman Neymar could be banned from the coming Champions League finals clash after he exchanged shirts with Marcel Halstenberg after PSG’s win in Champions League semi-final.

PSG have reached the finals of UEFA CL for the first time in their history and would be hoping to lay their hands on the coveted trophy after years of heartbreak and agony. However, in a major blow to their title campaign, Neymar Jr, who has been in the form of his life lately, faces the risk of being ousted from the mega clash after his penchant for somehow landing in trouble came to the fore once again.

Neymar’s antics, PSG’s bane

Much like the wider world, football too has changed, with certain precautions now a part of the game owing to the Covid-19 pandemic. The traditional practice of swapping shirts after the game too had been banned in order to curb this menace.

However, Neymar was caught on the camera swapping his shirt with RB Leipzig left-back Marcel Halstenberg after the PSG win.

According to new medical protocols of UEFA which are adopted after the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic, Neymar may face a one-match ban and a mandatory 12-day period of self-isolation for trading his shirt with another player.

Should this ban materialize, not only would it be a nightmare for Paris Saint German but extremely unfortunate for Neymar too. It would also bring back some not-so-pleasant memories for the Ligue 1 Champions who have had to miss the services of the Brazilian in crucial ties before too.

The rule states: “Players are recommended to refrain from swapping their shirts.”

And while the experts maintain that the usage of the word recommended may come to PSG’s aid and Neymar may escape the ban, the fact remains that for the moment the mood in PSG camp remains one of scared anticipation.

“Dad’s going to the final”

Earlier Neymar took to Instagram to celebrate their historic win over the RB Leipzig and brutally trolled the Bundesliga side.

The club is funded by the Red Bull energy drink company and Neymar posted a picture of himself holding the cup with a caption of: “Father is in the final.”

What next for PSG

The Ligue 1 champions will be up against the winners of 2nd semifinals between Bayern Munich and Lyon to be held today. And with Bayern on a juggernaut, the chances of a France vs Germany finals look to be on the cards.

All of this assuming that Lyon don’t do what they have been doing this entire campaign-that is-stun the giants.
