Neymar, the Paris Saint Germain ace had previously announced that he parted ways with Nike, the US sportswear company and the Brazilian striker’s apparel sponsor. Speculations began that he would partner with Puma, the rival company of Nike. In no less than two weeks, Neymar announced that he has signed an endorsement deal with Puma.
Puma becomes apparel sponsor for Neymar
Neymar, the PSG star took to twitter and posted a minute-long video announcing his tie-up with Puma. He captioned the video clip with “The King is back ! @pumafootball @PUMA”
The clip features Neymar and his memorable moments of the pitch. It also features the great football legends including the likes of the football legends like Johan Cryuff, Diego Maradona, Pele etc.
In the video, the Brazilian International quotes, “This will be my PUMA story. I grew up watching videos of great football legends. They were the KINGs of the pitch. KINGs of my sport. This is exactly what I have dreamt of for myself. I want to do it my way.”
He continues, “I wish to bring back the legacy that those athletes created on the pitch. I want the KING to reign on the pitch again, and inspire generations as it has inspired mine. This will be my PUMA history. The KING is Back!”

Neymar, who recently fought back with Covid-19 has ended £78.6million deal with Nike after 15 years of partnership with the US company. He will join the likes of Antoine Griezmann, Pele and Diego Maradona, who are the high profile stars partnered with PUMA. The German brand also sponsors two huge clubs- Manchester City and AC Milan.
Bjorn Gulden, the CEO of PUMA said, “Neymar Jr. joining our PUMA Family is fantastic.”
“He is one of the best players in the world and extremely influential for the global football and youth culture. We are very excited and look forward to working with him both on and off the pitch.”
Neymar is considered to be as one of the greatest of Brazil’s football history. The 28-year-old is the third-highest goalscorer for the national side behind Pele and Ronaldo.
The Brazilian ace has achieved a lot performing remarkably in European leagues as well as for his National side. With that being said, it is a gain for PUMA to close a deal with the Brazilian who would be the face of the brand.
