Branislav Ivanovic departed the Russian club, Zenit St Petersburg earlier in the summer and currently is a free agent.

Reportedly, the Premier League side, West Brom have targeted the Serbian International. Branislav Ivanovic could be heading to The Hawthorns and the transfer talks are in an advanced stage.

He is said to be signing one year deal with the club. However, no fee has been decided as of now and both the parties are yet to agree on a deal. The Baggies could sign him on a free transfer as well.

Slaven Bilic, the West Brom gaffer took over the managerial duties in 2019. He guided his team to achieve promotion to the Premier League from the Championship.

The Baggies finished in the second position on the league table behind the league winners and newly promoted team after sixteen years, Leeds United. West Brom ended their 2019/20 campaign ten points behind the league champions.

Slaven Bilic, the 52-year-old manager is certainly looking forward to land the Serbian defender after he scored 4 goals in 35 appearances in the 2019/20 season. The 36-year-old will not only strengthen the team but also add experience to the squad.

West Ham and Everton were also in the race to sign the former Chelsea defender. But, West Brom is leading as they could land the signing as soon as within 48 hours.

The Serbian expressed his wish for returning to Premier League in the last month. He hinted, “I will probably continue my career at Everton. I received a good offer from them. I will see how things will turn out.”

Branislav Ivanovic spent nine long years at the Premier League side, Chelsea after he joined the club from Lokomotiv Moscow. Making 377 appearances for the club, he has netted 34 goals.

He enjoyed a trophy-laden career playing for the Blues as he won three Premier League and FA Cup titles, Champions League and Europa both once.

West Brom will begin their 2020/21 campaign on Sunday when they host Leicester City at The Hawthorns.
