AEW star Maxwell Jacob Friedman(MJF) is currently the most despised heels in the promotion from the perspective of the fans. While heels are used to generate heat from the crowd, MJF does that task impeccably. He recently highlighted his admiration for WWE Hall of Famer “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, who was a huge heel back in the day in WWE.

MJF is undoubtedly one of the most talented athletes when it comes to in-ring performance while he also excels with the mic as well. He has been witnessed cutting several heel promos and has the ability to draw deafening boos from the crowd in attendance.

Speaking to Inside The Ropes, MJF stated that Piper was the only one before him who could draw massive heat from the crowd like he currently does in AEW. The Salt of the Earth said that the WWE Hall of Famer had made him fall in love with pro wrestling and he wished he had the opportunity to get involved in a verbal exchange with him. Unfortunately, it won’t be possible as the WWE legend had passed away in 2015.

MJF also predicted that a match between him and Roddy Piper would have potentially been the greatest pro wrestling match of all time.

Here is what the AEW star said:

“Before me, I’m going to say the only person who would equal the ability to get a visceral reaction from the crowd was Piper. Piper made me fall in love with wrestling. And if I was able to have an opportunity to have promos back and forth with Roddy, and then a match that I know would be vicious as all hell. I think that would probably go down as the greatest match in the history of professional wrestling.”

The two-time Dynamite Diamond Ring winner picked his arch-rival Chris Jericho, AEW’s Tully Blanchard, Eddie Gilbert, Ric Flair, and Chris Candido, as some stars he grew up idolizing.

MJF has established himself as the top heel of AEW and also leads The Pinnacle stable in the promotion. He is currently involved in a feud with the first-ever AEW World Champion Chris Jericho and they are set to go head to head in a battle at AEW All Out pay-per-view on September 5, with the latter’s career on the line.
