Michael Kofoid emerged victorious in the second day’s preliminary round of the Chili Bowl. Michael Kofoid displayed some impressive racing skills as he led the race from start to finish. Michael Kofoid’s win in Tuesday’s Warren CAT qualifying night earned him a qualification into his fourth championship feature event since 2020.
Michael Kofoid talked to the media after the game “With how the format is here, you want to try and put yourself in a position all day to be starting up front. I feel like we did a really good job all day with Heat Races, extremely good in the Qualifier, and still even felt like I could have been a little bit better for how tricky the track was.”
How the race unfolded
Michael Kofoid raced for Keith Kunz a well-known midget car owner, and earned Kunz his second prelim win already. Michael Kofoid appeared untouchable during his triumphant run on Tuesday night.
Hank Davis a 2023 prelim winner was the only one who gave Kofoid some competition but fell short by just 1.457-seconds. Michael “Buddy” Kofoid had to go through a tricky situation on lap 17 as his car went on two wheels while entering the first turn. Michael Kofoid once again proved how calm he is in these situations as he was able to recover even after going on two wheels. After Michael Kofoid and Hank Davis, Chase McDermand came third. David Gravel had to race his way from the 11th to secure the fourth position.
