Matt Cardona (formerly known as Zack Ryder) has given an update on his future during the Pro Wrestling Junkies Podcast. He revealed that he could be joining All Elite Wrestling (AEW) as a full-time wrestler.

Matt Cardona, the former WWE star had worked with AEW for a short period of time as the deal was confirmed in July. He had signed a short-term deal, agreeing to be appearing five times for the company.

But, now it seems the former WWE star could be joining hands with AEW as a full-time wrestler. He opened up on his contract, stating that it expired at AEW All Out pay-per-view on September 5.

The former WWE Intercontinental Champion expressed his desire to re-join the company but this time performing full-time in AEW.

He said, “That’s the place to be right now. To be there even for a month, and do a couple of matches, was a lot of fun. It was great to just be out there and be myself again. Hopefully, we’ll do it again soon.”

Cardona spoke about the current scenario of the world, amid COVID-19 pandemic. One of the fans questioned him the reason for not being working as a full-time performer.

He expressed his wish to work in New Japan Pro Wrestling or in the independent circuit in his home city.

Matt Cardona responded, “It’s a weird situation and weird time in the world. I’d love to go to New Japan, or even go back and main event a few indie shows at my home promotions in New York.”

The wrestling promotions have never been the same since the pandemic outbroke. The fans are missed out on the shows. The electric crowd enhances the experience itself that has been missing for quite some time now.

Matt Cardona said, “When the world opens up, it’ll be the best time in wrestling. Fans and wrestlers will both be so excited and we’re gonna have some kickass shows.”

After spending fifteen years in WWE, Cardona was released from the company along with many other wrestlers as part of the COVID-19 budget cuts.

He made his debut in AEW in a segment where he saved Cody Rhodes from the Dark Order.

Cody Rhodes had admitted that he was in pursuit of signing both Matt Cardona and Miro (who recently signed with AEW). Their TV experience, high-profile experience, locker room experience, were the main reasons to get them signed.
