Manchester City have secured their third victory of the 2020-21 Premier League season with a clean 1-0 victory against Arsenal at the City of Manchester Stadium.

After a disappointing 5-2 loss against Leicester City and a one-all draw against the recently promoted Leeds United, Pep Guardiola’s side were in dire needs of a victory and now they have secured three clean points from the fixture.

The match-winning goal came from Manchester City stalwart Raheem Sterling in the 23rd minute. Receiving a calculated through from Sergio Aguero, Phil Foden thundered it towards the Gunners net which was blocked by Bernd Leno. However, the rebound ball ended up at the feet of Sterling inside the box, who finished off the task at hand with ease.

“I felt I was quite lucky to get on the scoresheet. It was not one of my better games but I am just grateful to be able to help the team,” the forward told Sky Sports after the match.

“We dropped points early on in the season so it was important to keep on winning,” Sterling added.

A total of four City players- Rúben Dias, Nathan Aké, Rodri and João Cancelo were shown the yellow in today’s match, while Thomas Partey, the Gunners newcomer who made his debut tonight as a substitute for Granit Xhaka was also booked.

Meanwhile, Arsenal’s bad luck in away games continue as they have now lost 29 matches playing against the ‘big six’ at opposition grounds.

Manchester City will travel to London for the upcoming PL faceoff against West Ham United on 24th October, while Arsenal will host Leicester City on 26th.
