Kenta, better known as Hideo Itami in WWE, during a recent interview discussed about his time at WWE and reportedly expressed his wish to face former WWE star, CM Punk.
Kenta opens up on WWE and has challenged CM Punk for a match
Kenta, who gained popularity because of his time at Pro Wrestling Noah, is currently signed to New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) has given his thoughts about his spell at WWE. Kenta had signed a contract for WWE in 2014. He was mainly featured in NXT and eventually made his main roster debut at Raw. Later on he moved to WWE 205 live that featured Cruiserweight wrestlers.
Kenta was released from WWE last year and made his debut at NJPW Dominion in Osaka,Japan. He has won the NEVER Openweight Championship one time in NJPW. The former WWE 205 Live wrestler has won the first ever New Japan Cup USA this month by defeating Dave Finlay.
During the interview when asked about his spell at WWE, he said, “I’ve felt in my heart that the five years I spent in WWE were the most frustrating days of my life. I’ve talked about this, but I’ll always remember the humiliation in America. Being here reminds me of that regret. And when you’re not good, you tell yourself that. That is what inspires me.”
Kenta has issued a challenged to former WWE World Heavyweight Champion, CM Punk.One of the fans had tweeted about a dream match between Kenta and CM Punk. Kenta then replied saying, “I want to have [a] match versus CM Punk.”

However, the former WWE champion,CM Punk has not responded to this incident. CM Punk, who had signed multi-fight contract with UFC has previously stated on several occasions that he is not considering a return to the squared circle anytime soon.
Moreover, he has not shown any interest of returning to the WWE ring either. Though Punk made a surprise WWE appearance in the talk show called WWE Backstage as an analyst, but his contract was directly with Fox and not the WWE. Kenta and CM Punk both share the same finisher that is the Go To Sleep(GTS) and it is really a dream of many wrestling fans to see both the stars sharing the same ring at the same time.
