WWE star Keith Lee is now billed as Keith ‘Bearcat’ Lee. The nickname was introduced by WWE when he made his return to the on-screen programming on this week’s edition of Monday Night RAW after working several dark matches for weeks. He not only got a new nickname but altered his look as he is sporting his old facial hairstyle, has a new in-ring attitude, and changed entrance music. He returned to work a squash match against Akira Tozawa, who had issued an open challenge, only to get responded by a returning Lee.

On the post-show interview on RAW Talk, Lee responded with a “No” when Kevin Patrick had asked if there’s something to be said for his new attitude and if he had anything at all to share about what he did to Tozawa.

Patrick had then questioned about the WWE Draft and where Lee’s head is as WWE is gearing up for the Draft Night 1 on Friday’s SmackDown, and then Night 2 on next week’s RAW.

Lee answered: “Same place it was tonight “It doesn’t matter who’s across the ring, it doesn’t matter what side they fall on, RAW or SmackDown, whoever stands across the ring from me will realize the same thing that you are right now – the mission is the same, the person they thought they knew is ever so slightly different.”

He added: “And I don’t think he has anymore questions left.”

Keith Lee’s nickname might be a reference

It is not known what is next for Keith Lee, who has missed a good amount of time due to his health issues. It is understood that the “Bearcat” nickname is a reference to Bearcat Wright, who was a popular African American pro wrestler from the 1950s and 1960s.

He was posthumously inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame’s Legacy Wing in 2017. The name could also be a reference to Bearcat Brown, an innovative African American wrestler who usually worked the Memphis area in the 1960s and 1970s.
