The strength and physicality of Karim Benzema is well known to the football fan base, which makes him a clinical finisher inside the box. Now, as retirement slowly makes its approach, the Frenchman is dreaming to make his entry into the sensational world of MMA.

Karim Benzema opens up about his yearning for MMA

The Los Blancos forward has his own official YouTube channel, where he often posts videos answering questions from both friends and fans. An interesting query was dropped in by French kickboxer Fouda Ezbiri, the elder brother of I.S.K.A. K-1 Rules World Champion Abdellah Ezbiri. Having trained together with Benzema in the past, Fouda asked if his compatriot would consider a career in mixed martial arts when he hangs up his boots.

“Well Fouad my broski, in any case I hope you’re doing good, and it’s true that I love fighting sports,” Benzema answered.

“I love training, as you say we already trained, after the soccer why not train with you for six months and if you think I can be ready for a fight, no problem for me, I’m up for it!” the forward added.

Benzema is not the only footballer with a knack in combat sports. His fellow Frenchman Bixente Lizarazu, former left back and 1998 World Cup winning left back, has trained in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu following his retirement from the sport, and was promoted to BJJ black belt in 2016.

In the video, Benzema also revealed that the Brazilian Ronaldo, Michael Jordan and Mike Tyson are his three most favourite athletes of all time. Check out the full video below-

The 2019-20 season ended splendidly for Karim Benzema. Aside Real Madrid winning the La Liga trophy for the record 34th time, the forward scored 21 goals in the campaign, and became the second highest goalscorer of the season, 4 goals behind Lionel Messi.

In his 11 year long spell at the Santiago Bernabéu, Benzema has netted the ball 349 times for the Galacticos in 169 appearances across all competitions.
