New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman recently underwent a knee surgery and has been reportedly expected to be benched in the upcoming match against Buffalo Bills this Sunday.
Julian Edelman expected to miss Patriots vs Bills clash this Sunday

Julian Edelman has been dealing with a bone on bone issue in the knee and had recently undergone a knee procedure. However, the claim of Edelman to potentially miss the Week 8 clash against their divisional rivals Bulls was made by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who recently tweeted about the player’s probable absence this Sunday.
“Patriots’ WR Julian Edelman underwent a precautionary standard knee procedure this morning, per source. It is expected to sideline Edelman for “some period of time”, including Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills,” tweeted Schefter.

The same was asserted by The Athletic’s Jeff Howe, who also added that Edelman has been sustaining a knee problem throughout the session and the player was also absent from Thursday’s practice session as well, which was confirmed by Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

Although there were regular injury reports, Edelman has appeared in all of Patriots’ matches in the ongoing NFL season. However, it is yet to be seen how many further matches the 34-year-old misses due to his knee problem.
In six games, Edelman received just one start, generating 21 catches for 315 yards and zero TDs while playing in 68.12% of the offensive snaps, ranking 3rd among his teammates. Against Seattle Seahawks in Week 2, he had clocked 179 receiving yards and has not crossed 35 receiving yards since then.
In addition to Edelman, fellow wide receiver N’Keal Harry did not make it to the practice after sustaining a head injury during the game against the San Francisco 49ers last Sunday and left the match. In the absence of both Edelman and Harry, Patriots have three options- Damiere Byrd, Gunner Olszewski and Jakobi Meyers to start against Bills.
