Why is it called the $1 Million Challenge?

The allure of a hefty cash prize can elevate the stakes to a whole new level. Enter the IndyCar $1 Million Challenge, a captivating saga that has unfolded on the asphalt tracks, captivating fans and drivers.

Initially, plans were grand: members of The Thermal Club, a private, gated community nestled 40 minutes east of Palm Springs, California, would contribute to a multi-million-dollar pot. In return, they’d be randomly paired with one of the drivers in the 27-car field. If their driver secured a top-5 finish, they’d share the winnings. The grand prize? A cool $1 million (split into $500,000 each for the winning team).
