The 2024 NFL Draft stirred up emotions and reactions across the league, but none quite as strong as Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons’ response to the Philadelphia Eagles’ selection of cornerback Quinyon Mitchell. Parsons, a vocal analyst on Bleacher Report’s draft show, didn’t hold back when expressing his feelings about the Eagles’ fortunate pick.
Quinyon Mitchell, a standout cornerback from Toledo, was projected to be one of the first defensive players taken in the draft. However, the Eagles managed to snag him at the No. 22 overall pick without having to trade up. This left Parsons both impressed and, well, disgusted.
Micah Parsons’ Honest Reaction
During the draft show, Parsons covered his face with his hand and candidly stated, “I mean, I’m honestly utterly disgusted. How lucky the Eagles are. I don’t know how he fell that far, but with this run of offensive tackles and quarterbacks, that’s the only thing that makes sense. I thought he was a top-15, top-12 talent – and he just fell right into their lap.”
Parsons praised Quinyon Mitchell’s abilities, calling him one of his favorite players in the draft. He highlighted Mitchell’s versatility and the opportunity for him to learn from veteran cornerback Darius Slay. The Eagles’ secondary, which also features James Bradberry, suddenly looked even stronger with Quinyon Mitchell in the mix.

The Eagles’ Calculated Gamble on Quinyon Mitchell
Eagles general manager Howie Roseman explained their strategy: “We contemplated going up, but we kept going back to the fact that we felt like we had a really good chance to get a first-round player at a position of need where we were picking.” Their gamble paid off, as Mitchell fell to them unexpectedly.
Now, twice a year, Parsons will face off against the Eagles and their newly acquired cornerback. The NFC East rivalry just got a little more intense, and Parsons’ disgust may fuel some fierce on-field battles.
In the end, the Eagles’ luck and the Cowboys’ frustration collided in the form of Quinyon Mitchell. Only time will tell if Parsons’ assessment holds true, but for now, the Eagles have reason to celebrate their draft-day fortune.
